These briefing materials are prepared
for media, press and anyone as the social media. We encourage
reporters, bloggers and everyone to help spread the word. As much as we
have worked hard to ensure a well-rounded and comprehensive set of
policies and measures to ensure a successful launch of the .Asia
domain, ultimately, the processes are only as good as the
participation. Your word to the world will make a difference.
The DotAsia Organisation is a not-for-profit organisation
incorporated in Hong Kong with a focused mission to operate the .Asia
Registry and a purposeful
mandate to direct surplus proceeds to initiatives that benefit the
community in the region. These include projects to bridge
the digital divide and regional research development initiatives.
DotAsia
is the first global “top-level domain”
headquartered in Asia, and the Pioneer Domains Program marks the first
time ever a domain registry is opening its doors for domains based on
the quality of proposals received for any domain name of choice. This
represents millions of dollars in value
of domain names that is offered by DotAsia to pioneers of the
.Asia domain. As a not-for-profit startup nevertheless, we need every
bit of your help to get the word out to the community. DotAsia has
worked very hard to develop a comprehensive launch program that ensures
the orderly and logical introduction of the .Asia domain, balancing the
need to protect the rights of others, curb abusive registrations and
promote innovation and positive adoption of the Internet.
Vint
Cerf, father of the Internet and Chairman of ICANN remarks,
"DotAsia has worked hard to bring its .Asia top level domain name into
operation. They have been careful to keep interested parties informed
and to think through the 'landrush' period. The Pioneer Domains Program
will be a useful benchmark for other new TLD operators to take into
account." Your participation will make the difference for Asia.
